Started in 2020 by Josh and Gemma Hardegger, the business grew out of years of experience contracting on the family farm and working for a local contractor. That background sparked a passion for building something sustainable and creating opportunities for other young operators, which led to the start of Hardegger Ag.

Based in Isla Bank, Southland, the business has grown quickly. What began with a small fleet of tractors has expanded to 17 machines, a core team of 8 staff, and seasonal operators who join during the busy months from September to February. Along the way, Josh and Gemma have also grown their family, raising three daughters while running the business and a dairy farm.
